The Ultimate Coastal Road: Chapman's Peak Drive

The most scenic drives in the world and winning various awards and accolades is Chapman’s Peak Drive. Affectionately known as “Chappies” by the locals. It is a must-do iconic experience for all visitors and anyone passionate about the majestic Cape Town scenery. The astounding sheer drops to the sea below and towering mountains rising above are breathtaking and awe-inspiring.



There can be little doubt that traversing the winding roads of Chapman's Peak drive in a high perfomance luxury car surely must be one of the most exhilerating, awe-inspiring experiences that a car lover may ever do, without any degree of hyperbole; this simply is a must do.



Of scenic drives, the 9km route has 114 curves. The road twists its way around the rocky coastline of the Atlantic Sea. The pass connects Chapman’s Peak two towns, Hout Bay and Noordhoek on the eastern side of the peninsula. Chapman’s Peak also is the southerly extension of Constantiaberg Mountain in the Table Mountain Range. If you are curious the Chapmans Peak elevation is 593 metres. The curves of the motorway seem endless. The route is a photographer’s dream. To cruise pass is an experience for everyone to remember whether you’re a motorist, sightseer, picnicker, runner, or biker. Stunning 180° views from Chapmans Peak picnic spots along the route to stop, so you take in the captivating scenery, or enjoy a relaxing lunch, or just breathe in the the fresh sea air from Chapmans Peak lookout. If you are a hiker, the Chapmans Peak hike from Noordhoek is a must. Local tip: Chapmans Peak sunset is the best.
